Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
28 students from Year 9 completed their practice expedition in July for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. They had to navigate across the Essex countryside and through Epping Forest, carrying all of their kit (including tents). Students set up camp in Debden and cooked for themselves using gas trangias.
They also walked a total of 15km; across fields, up hills, over fences, past sheep and horses, and through the forest. It was a hard two days walking and students got lost at various points; however they all showed excellent teamwork and resilience and managed to find their way back to the correct path every time.
We are now looking forward to completing the final assessed expedition in
September, where students will be navigating through Cheshunt.
