Hospitality & Catering
Hospitality and Catering is offered as a WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award. This subject has been created and embedded in our options to support pupils with potential in this vocational sector to enrich their opportunities to broaden their skill asset.
There are KS3 Enrichment sessions offered to Year 7, 8 and 9 as an insight into this GSCE Option. Hospitality and Catering is offered in Year 10 and Year 11. The course is split into two sections, Unit 1 explores the industry as a whole and is an externally assessed unit. Whereas, Unit 2 is an active unit with pupils applying their learning to safely, prepare, cook and present nutritional dishes. Lessons in Hospitality and Catering will differ from practical to theory based, whereby pupils will explore the how the industry has grown and apply this knowledge to their own practice.

Next Steps
This award can provide pupils with the prospect to develop a range of specialist skills that can support their progression into this sectors employment beyond KS4. Career aspects in the industry can vary from Waiter/Waitresses, Front of House to hotel managers, chefs and CEO’s of food catering businesses.
